Arcane had no right to be that good said Bricky , in one of his videos about Arcane .
And well , he is seriously right , Arcane is indeed a masterpiece of storytelling and of symbols all around it , i loved it .
The colors , the feelings , the dialog , the art style , the development was truly well executed. Something that made me kinda jealous thinking that it was way better then my writing ..
but i am not here to talk about this , today , i just want to talk about something that might be true . After finishing arcane and talking about it with one of my friends , i was like "Oh" this whole piltover and zaun stuff sounds awfully a lot like the Palestinian crisis.
I mean yes i know , it's not exactly the same , but we can get similarities , i do know Piltover and Zaun were one city before and it's not the case with Palestine , at least not the same way . The Jews and the Palestinians lived together , then Colonization arrived , alongside Zionism . Another similarity would be how they interact with one another , the enforcers , and the undercity , like Gaza or the West Bank , that are poorer then "Piltover". We can also note how enforcers act and behave with the people down there , and how they are dressed , i find that there's lots of similarities .
Let's not forget the fact that one wanted to be independent while the other when Jayce told them about it was completely against. One is full of progress while the other is dangerous and rebellious . One is seen by the international committee the other not really , (we see how Noxus interacts with Piltover).
We can see how with all this political turmoil , there is the individual . Vi does say "i was raised knowing they are better then me , i don't want powder to feel the same" (not the exact words but the exact meaning).
And well if you think about it , don't the Palestinians feel the same?
Same thing for Caitlyn , she is the "good rich girl enforcer" that is what she claims to be , but she is still an "isreali" and is the daughter of a council member. We can see how she acts and how she doesn't know what the Undercity really is. But she didn't have a superiority complex towards Vi , the undercity was hidden from her , like most Piltover's population.
we can see how Ekko acts as well , and Jinx . They both are the ones that have the aggressive response to what Piltover is doing to them , Rightfully so . Ekko however is against the problems inside the undercity as well , we can note that some Palestinians are against Hamas.
We can see also that how inside Zaun , the "barons" are not really with one another , same thing for the West Bank and Gaza. Vander choose peace and cooperation after war , like Yasser . And Silco choose the opposite , like Hamas.
We can see how Silco holds the Undercity with his chemicals - weapons .
I know , i know , even with that , the writers probably did not do it on purpose , but i like to analyze , and to keep it short , i just feel that there's lots of similarities that i felt worth writing about.
The ending shows the continuation of hate and war when Jinx fires the rocket at the highest authority of Piltover. While Caitlyn and Vi look over ( i don't want to say Vi switched sides yet , we've seen how she acted in front of the council , and i find it interesting)
"Oil and Water weren't meant to be Mixed" she said to Caitlyn just like The conflict in Palestine .
Individuals might feel different in these situations , VI and Caitlyn both were raised knowing they should be enemies . but it's greed , corruption , and politics that breeds hate. That sometimes can be understood , vi lost her parents to a battle with them . Palestinians lost loved ones too.
