Are we here on earth for a reason? Do you even believe In God?
In a higher force?
Do you believe in meaning?
Do you believe that Nothing will happen?
Do you believe that we have a greater cause? I don't know..
Yesterday(when i wrote this) after I paid the dohor I sat down and started to be all philosophical, started to think about if God is just a teacher.
Like, let's put religions aside and think why we are here.
If God is teaching is something, what is he teaching us? What are the lessons? What is the key to understand the reality of why we are here, why are we alive, why are we free? Why is there evil? Why is there good? Why do we the have the liberty to choose between those two? Did we choose it? Or did someone choose for us?
Are we here for a reason? Can we prove that we are or that we are not? Can we be certain? Can we live knowing that things are just the way that they are and that there is greater meaning?
How can we be sure of what History tells us?
I tell myself that the day I meet God in, I would have lots of questions. Questions that I may try to answer myself one day.
Maybe it's over hoping but I do believe we have a greater meaning and that we are here because of a particular reason.
i think that we are being taught something. I think that our life is the biggest lesson that we will ever have. But then again, our lives are not the same and thus how can we all have the same lesson?
Did humanity just fly away from God? Do we not understand truly why he sent us here? Do we make up stories to understand it? And the biggest question why isn't he coming and telling us why we are here ?
Maybe because he is a teacher and it's part of he teaching process. If I knew that my professor was above me while I am doing an essay, it would be way different if the professor wouldn't be here. Or any authority for that matter.
I could choose not to even make it, not to do it good, not to make it on the particular subject, i may have done it but without studying, I may do it and studied for it but won't pass, or I would.
What I'm trying to say is, is that we are perhaps learning responsibility.
Okay, responsibility of what then? Perhaps God gave us something he did not give to any other creature, i might be totally wrong, but maybe God, gave us a gift, or perhaps a choice that we took. To be humans, to have free will.
To be able to think whatever we want, evil, good or not. If I told you that you Could choose between being totally good, without free will. Would you accept?
It's vague, I know. But I think after lots of reflection, us humans, like to be free, like to have free will. But if so, do we need evil? Like, of course i am not okay with rape for instance. But if our free will is taken, it is this that makes us decide if we want to do something or not.
To give to the poor or to start drama.
We have no shackles on us. But as a colleague in sociology told me, he thought that if evil was not there it means that we will not be alert anymore, which means if evil comes from someone else we won't see it coming or won't react appropriately because we can think the good way.
And by the way, what does good means? It can differ. Does good necessarily means being gentle and kind? What if good doesn't mean to be kind, just to be nice. You can tell the homeless man that you feel bad for him, but you might never give him a penny.
And what does evil mean also? Like, if i kill someone in self defense because he wanted to steal some money to feed his kids makes me evil or makes me a hero that saved my family from such robbery?
If a woman gets rapped, the person should be buried underneath the prison.
But what if there was no proof? What if the whole world said he did it but there was no proof. The judge will need to take a decision that will either make him a lucky person or an evil one. Without him knowing.
We all did evil things, accident or not. We all did good things, accident or not.
But never did we hear a force coming from the skies stopping us from doing either. Of Course I'm not saying that God is okay with evil. But from this God is perhaps teaching us something. Teaching us the price of freedom. Teaching us the value of our lives. Teaching us to rise up from all the punches we get from the world.
But again. Why? Why are we being taught? Was it our choice? And whatever it is, what will we do with this lesson? Maybe we don't know yet, maybe once we understand this lesson, we will be "eligible" for what's to come. As the song 42 by Coldplay says "There must be something more".
